Today is New Years Eve!  We just had a toast to the New Year around the bonfire with all of our new friends here at Morenga Palms RV Park.

It's been a cool, rainy and windy week here, but the sky cleared and the wind stopped so we could have a fun evening around the fire!

So many wonderful folks...too many to name here!  We will be back to spend some time with them again!

Near the RV Park here is an area where Burrowing Owls are being re-located to after being displaced by the booming development in the Phoenix area.  The rescue group builds man-made burrows for them, with a little perch outside of the opening so the birds can look for prey...

We walked about a half mile over to the area to look for some...There's one!

The rescue organization brings frozen mice over here to the RV Park and the folks staying here go out and give the mice to the owls for food until they get used to living in this area and disperse to more natural homes in abandoned burrows of other animals.  The program has been a great success over the past few years...most of the owls have moved on!  Now they will bringing a new group of owls out in the next month or so to repeat the process!

It was a fun hike to see one...they're cute little guys!  Barbi is cute too!

Tomorrow, January 1st, 2022 we will be leaving Morenga Palms and moving a short 37 miles north to Alamo Lake State Park

The weather is forecast to be clear with no wind and a warming trend to near 70 while we are there!  Watch for an update from Alamo Lake State Park!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

On Wednesday, December 1st we left our wonderful spot a Buckskin Mountain State Park, AZ and continued south...

Our destination was Wenden, Arizona...A distance of about 75 miles. Our destination is Morenga Palms RV Park...

A six minute video of portions of that drive and the park can be seen in our You Tube video HERE.  The owners and guests are super nice and welcoming!  A lot of the guests here are from Montana…Billings, Thompson Falls, Livingston, Gardiner and more.  Everyone here at the park gathers around the fire pit at dusk for fun, food and drink...

On Friday, December 3rd, we made a quick trip to Wickenburg, AZ...

To meet up for lunch with some friends we met last year at Lost Dutchman State Park, near Apache Junction, AZ.  We dined at the Onery Hog BBQ with our friends Jason And Misty...

We had a great lunch of some of the finest ribs, brisket and pulled you will find anywhere!  I call Jason and Misty "The Fun Squad" because of all the fun things they are doing!  Thanx to both of you for your service!

Back at Morenga Palms we have been hanging out with friends here both old and new. Most folks put up Christmas decorations around their camp…this was us!

The RV parks here compete with each other for the best decorated park in the valley...

Some of the folks went out in the desert and picked up expired Century Plants (a type of Agave) and put lights on them...

And decorated their Side by Sides...

We won this year...Again!....  Inside we had our Christmas Tree!

On December 23rd, the night of the judging we had a great group around the roaring bonfire,

The owners of the park, Rob and Kim, served delicious snacks and egg-nog!  It was a warm evening in the 60s and no wind!

It’s been quite chilly in the morning…low 30s most days (lowest has been 26), but warms up nicely later on.  Great mornings to sleep in and cuddle!

We will be here at Morenga Palms until the January 1st, when we move on to one of our favorites, Alamo Lake State Park, AZ...

On Saturday, November 27th, we left our site at Davis Camp Park near Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV.

Got a late start, left our campsite at Davis Park Camp at about 10:20 AM! Sunny but still a bit breezy.  Hear tell this is a windy place this time of year!  The Saturday crowd started to show up as we were leaving...

We continued south passing through Bullhead City and Fort Mohave, AZ before venturing into California at Needles, CA.  We read that on August 13, 2012, Needles experienced a thunderstorm that dropped rain at a temperature of 115 degrees F that set a record for the hottest rain ever recorded on earth.  The air temperature at the time was 118!  We prefer NOT to go into California.  It feels really uncomfortable to us... We saw this gas sign in needles as we were passing through...WOW!

We were only in California for 14 miles and didn't stop.  The roads were bad and the area along the highway was quite trashy.  Once we crossed the Colorado River back into AZ the roads and the general feel of the area was better.  We continued on I-40 eastbound and turned south on Highway 95 towards Lake Havasu City and points south looking to stay in one of the Arizona State Parks on the Colorado River...

We had no reservations, but stopped first at Cattail Cove State Park.  Beautiful place!

They made a wonderful white sand beach there!...

But the campground was  full!  so we moved on down the river to River Island State Park, another nice park with a nice beach!

But once again the campsites were all full!  So on down the river we go to Buckskin Mountain State Park...

They had a dry-camping site we were able to stay in until a water and electric site opened the next day...

Nice!

We spent four days here, relaxing, riding the electric bikes while towing Bill and Ted in their trailer, and riding the bikes further down the river to a floating bar where we had an ice cold beer!

We were at Buckskin until December first, when we will head to our monthlong stay at Morenga Palms RV Park near Wenden, AZ.

On Friday, November 26th, we took a day trip to visit Oatman, Arizona.  Got a late start, left our campsite at Davis Park Camp at about 12:20 PM! Sunny and very light winds once we got away from the Colorado River.

It was only 18 miles, but a bit of a slow drive, about an hour, due to the rough road.  We arrived at 1:30 PM.  It was CRAZY busy!

Oatman is famous for the friendly Burros that roam the streets looking for a handout,

As well as being on the old Historic Route 66...

We met some Burros....

And made a friend!

Here is a YouTube Video of the back road drive to Oatman and going through town!

We have given some of you Agave Plants...this shows how big they can get!  They can get even bigger with an 8 to 10 foot spread!  The link explains how to keep it as a houseplant...

Anyway, Oatman was super busy and crowded, so we decided to get out of there!  We took the paved road back to Ft Mohave and then back to our campsite on the river...Arrived at 5:30 PM...

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 27th' we will continue south along the Colorado River to the general area of Parker, AZ and try to find a campsite.  We don't have any reservations...we shall see what we find!
